Finally!!!! The day is here!

So the day is quickly approaching! Thursday morning we are heading out of Calgary to fly to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We will then travel to South Omo to visit many of the people we have been working with from afar for the past several years! I am so excited to actually imagine meeting people I have come to love so much, face to face!

I am so honored to be able to make this trip! The water filters, the medicines, the chance to hug the children at the orphanage ... It feels overwhelming sometimes!

I will post as much as possible but that may not be much as service areas are few and far between but please keep us in your prayers! God bless you!!

Wow, another new year! Happy New Year to all of you! Things have been happening in South Omo, that's for sure! We have added an 'Agricultural" page as we have seen some huge successes in the implementation of an agriculture project with the Arbore Tribe. For the first time in anyone's memory, there were crops growing! There was even a need to build grain bins and all from one tractor (glorified rototiller really) and many willing hands and hearts!

Big things have been happening with a partner in Hirut's Children's Village. We have partnered with a missionary and his wife from California whose home church has taken on promotion of the children that need sponsoring and I believe that we are nearing each child having full sponsorship! Praise God! Now, the hopes of expanding and helping even more than the 20 children that are currently being taken care of in Hirut and Dagne's orphanage are even greater!

We have had great news regarding a 'mingie' situation. There was a woman in the Arbore tribe who had twins. Apparently if you have twins in your first pregnancy, that is considered Mingi. This young woman, however, had recently become a Christian and what she learned about God was that He didn't make mistakes. If He wanted her to have twins, then she felt she was doubly blessed - not cursed! She dug her heels in and against most of the tribes wishes, including the chief, she and her husband kept their children. They are prospering within their tribe and leading by example. Young women around her are seeing that there has been no 'curse' - no harm has befallen her! What a wonderful example she is! We know that the only thing that has brought about great change is the Word of God! More and more young people are deciding to bring the Word to the people of South Omo so be prepared for more "Good News" stories!! God is working!!

We believe that 2012 is going to be a great year for South Omo! I get excited just thinking about it! If you would like to help out in any way, please get in touch with us through our contact page.
